Recently, Kevin Sagastume-Espinoza had the opportunity to represent Bennelongia in the Short-range endemics and beyond: Terrestrial Invertebrates in EIA symposium hosted by Murdoch University and the Harry Butler Institute.
The symposium brought together researchers, environmental consultants, proponents and regulators involved in the study, conservation and impact assessment of terrestrial invertebrates. Discussions focused on recent advances, current challenges, and opportunities for collaborative research to improve survey methods and EIA outcomes.
It was inspiring to see so many passionate scientists and practitioners from across different sectors sharing knowledge and exploring ways we can collectively improve our understanding and management of these fascinating and often overlooked animals.
Bennelongia was well represented in the event, with Kevin, Jaxon, Kiara, Veera and Melita attending the symposium. As the field of terrestrial invertebrate assessment continues to evolve, we are excited to contribute to ongoing discussions, research initiatives and best-practice approaches that support evidence-based environmental decision-making. Events like this play an important role in strengthening connections between research and industry, and in advancing our collective understanding of terrestrial invertebrates.
