Brian Timms

 

Brian Timms lives in New South Wales but is a regular visitor to the wetlands of Western Australia.  Brian has  B.Sc. and D.Sc. from the University of Queensland and a Ph.D. from Monash University and is a Visiting Professorial Fellow at the University of New South Wales’s Australian Wetlands and Rivers Centre.  His research interests are the taxonomy of conchostracans, anostracans and notostracans and the ecology of temporary wetlands, especially salt lakes, claypans and gnammas.  His experience includes:

  • Winner of Australian Society for Limnology Medal in 2002
  • Author of book on lake geomorphology
  • Keys to Australian fairy shrimps and brine shrimps with descriptions of many new species
  • 130 scientific papers
