Jane McRae
Senior Taxonomist
Jane McRae worked at the Australian Museum prior to joining the Department of Environment and Conservation from 1995 to 2007. Jane has been involved in regional surveys of aquatic invertebrates in wetlands and rivers. She has wide experience identifying both macro- and microinvertebrates and has co-authored papers describing new species of copepods, ostracods, polychaetes and beetles. She is currently involved in the production of a pictorial guide to rotifers of WA. Her experience includes:
- Sampling aquatic invertebrates in wetlands, rivers and groundwater throughout WA
- Invertebrate photography, scientific illustration and taxonomy of many major invertebrate groups
- Specialist identification of all types of aquatic invertebrates, stygofauna and troglofauna
